Fruit Tree 101 at a Mattapan School

On Friday, August 20th, 50 students at the Friends of Young Achievers Science and Math Pilot School in Mattapan planted 40 trees and shrubs that will supply fruit for the kids to enjoy, as well as provide an outdoor classroom to learn about healthy eating and environmental conservation. The event was sponsored by Stetch Island Fruit Co (maker of Fruitabu), in conjunction with The Fruit Tree Planning Foundation.

Samples of FruitaBu All-Natural Smoooshed Rolls were handed out courtesy of Stretch Island Fruit Co. and health educator from the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation, Katherine Drotos, gave students a lesson in “Fruit Tree 101,” incorporating interesting nutritional facts about fruit and fruit trees, with hands-on activities to empower the next generation of environmental activists.
